Well we’ve had a busy couple of weeks and weekends decorating a very shabby looking spare room to make it bright and cheerful and themed on Orlando. It’s going to be a great place for us to store and display the things we buy when we go to Orlando and the photos and pins and everything else, and it will be the space we use to film our vlogs for the time being. We should really have plenty of Orlando footage in the bag from our trip earlier this year, so park vlogs, food and drink vlogs and us generally having a blast in and around Orlando is what you should be seeing on our YouTube channel. Given the events of this year, our new vlogging studio and us chitter chattering about the things we love and miss, and want to go and see next trip and planning our next visit will have to do until we get back there.
Of course the room still has to function as a “man cave” space for Rob and a dressing room for myself so there has to be some necessary furniture and practical storage etc as well as being our new Orlando room.
Firstly we painted the whole room, it really needed it, it was very dull looking and the walls were all marked from us dragging furniture about. It’s now white and looks much more modern and bright. We have popped some new blue striped blinds in to make it feel nice and modern and as they have a slight nautical feel to them they made us think of the beach and sea, and our minds wandered instantly to Clearwater and the Gulf Coast of Florida – aaahhh dreamy happy hot sunny days! We can but dream right now, in the UK it is raining and pretty cold and we haven’t seen the sun for some days now. Hopefully our new Orlando room will be our go to room to remember the glorious Florida weather.

Then came the fun bit – dressing the room. Lots of our photos, ears, ornaments, magic bands, pins and hand made items friends have sent us, or made for us, or we have had designed and made for us. We have key chains, signs and luggage tags from the wonderful Jo at Matthias and Locke and we have another item currently being made for us by her, which will look stunning in our new studio. Of course none of this would have been possible if we hadn’t had our marvellous and stylish logo designed for us by the super talented Pete Winfield. The combination of his design and vision and talent, and Jo’s fantastic skill and imagination and talent has made for some truly fantastic Oh Orlando themed items, for which we are very very grateful. We have some absolutely fantastic and fun prints which we purchased from the Candy Apple Print Company which look brilliant on the walls and make us smile every time we go in the room. We have a home made Child that our other talented friend Kate made for Rob – she’s another talented crafter. How lucky are we to know all these people?
We have Universal memorabilia and Disney memorabilia and Orlando related things, photos and lots of bits and bobs that make us smile, make us happy and provoke memories. No doubt there’s a lot more to come as we have only just started on our collection.

There are a fair few other bits and bobs around our house that are Orlando related. There are wedding presents, wedding photos, a heart map, and a wine bottle and glass holder, which was a wedding present off our good friends Stacey, Lee, Joe and Isla and was in fact made by Jo at Matthias and Locke and that was how we got to find out about Jo’s work and asked her to do some work for us – and how glad we are for that first present and that introduction to Jo. So thanks Stacey! Kate, who we’ve mentioned previously made us a Mickey Mouse button picture as a wedding gift and it’s just the cutest thing – it’s in the kitchen so we look at it all the time. Kate also framed our Mickey and Minnie wedding ears in a lovely box frame and they are also displayed in the house on the stairs.

Happy memories all around our house which, as well as our family photos, make our home a very happy one.
As well as dressing our room this week we have also watched our usual supply of vlogs. They keep us updated on what’s going on in Orlando and the parks, what’s new, what’s re-opening and what new foods and drinks are appearing. We also get chance to interact with our favourites, which we have found absolutely thrilling! Ear to Ear Magic do a live stream from the parks on a Monday which usually airs in the UK around the time we are winding down ready for bed. We have loved sending them messages whilst they are in the parks, and having them respond to them live from our favourite places. It makes us feel all warm and fuzzy as if we were really there with them (which hopefully we will be someday). They are such naturally entertaining and funny people and they make us laugh a lot whilst they are trying new foods and drinks, and shopping and just generally doing the what we wish we were doing in the theme parks. We have watched Rix Flix also doing a live stream from Volcano Bay which Rob in particular was enjoying watching on his breaks from work – talk about a far cry from the canteen at work on a rainy Wednesday! We always watch AllEars and the Trackers of course, and this week we have also started watching Superenthused, on a recommendation from the lovely Picklevix – our fabulous and talented t-shirt provider!
So that pretty much sums up our week, decorating, dressing our Orlando room, watching vlogs, working, studying (I’m doing a course currently). It’s been a good week all things considered. Check out this week’s you Tube vlog for a full look at the new Oh Orlando studio.
Tonight is date night! A treat for all the hard work this last couple of weeks, so a take-away and a sneaky shared carafe of gin is the order of the day. So chin chin good people – stay safe, be kind and wash your hands, we need to get back to Orlando ASAP!
Have a good week folks.
