A little bit of Orlando…

Well, things really took a turn this week all over the world due to the Covid-19 or Coronavirus. We understand that the parks, hotels and restaurants have to close for EVERYONE’S safety. It’s a total no brainer. So what we propose to do is point you good folks in the direction of some Orlando based fun and viewing.

We are always watching and reading anything to do with anything Orlando and Florida so we thought we would put you good folks onto some of what we watch and read as well. This will be done in no particular order as we can never choose a favourite! It’s like choosing your favourite child! Each person we mention has a passion for what they do and they take a lot of time to film, edit and write the content. So, now we all have a ‘bit’ of spare time (Mr Oh doesn’t. He’ll be painting the hall, stairs and landing…) you could check them out, also we would love to get some recommendations from you guys as well, who do you watch and read when you have time? So, without further ado lets get into it….

So right out the gates its Rix Flix. We found this channel because we were watching someone else and it got recommended by YouTube. This guy is an absolute treat. He is everything we love about vloggers, fun, enthusiastic and knows how to engage the viewers. As a native Floridian he has a wealth of knowledge of the local area and parks. You cannot help but smile when watching, he only started blogging when the Kong ride was being built and his wife is a regular co-host as well. Their content is mainly Universal Studios but they do branch out to WDW and associated parks. When Rick is accompanied by his wife Nikki, she is a ray of sunshine, its all Rick can do to keep up with her. Find them on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook.

Next up is a family we saw on YouTube called The Despicable 3. These guys are such fun to watch. What we love about the family is they are so chilled in front of the camera. The son Jimmy is a scream, he loves loves LOVES everything! And boy can that boy eat! The family have had quite a few trips to Orlando and they have picked up more and more knowledge each time. We love the little hints and tips, and the food reviews are excellent, they always show you what they had and how much they’ve paid for it, this is invaluable as people never really know just HOW much food you get! The content on YouTube is always filmed really well and very professional, what we love is that they show the WHOLE holiday, from the departure lounge to hotels and beyond. One thing the family do so well is the break up of the day, we have always advocated breaking days up, its a loooonnnggg day running around parks let us tell you, they show them getting into Universal for example doing loads in the first few hours and then chilling with some food. They do also show the difference between ‘park’ food and the food of the bigger chains for example at City Walk or Disney Springs. You are paying not a lot more, but for a far better meal. We always look forward to the vlogs, and the few they have done in the U.K. also are a treat. They are on YouTube and Instagram.

Now one of Mr Oh’s faves Resort TV1. They cover WDW,Universal and much more, they live stream every Friday night and its a treat. The coverage is second to none, we love the meandering way they stroll around the resorts, and its a relief that there’s never too much commentary. The vlogs/streams are always brilliantly filmed and presented – it’s like being immersed in the park with them. One of our faves was the walk from Epcot over to Hollywood Studios, this stroll is not very well known and takes in the Boardwalk Resort on the way. This walk can be a fabulous way to decompress after a busy time, just wander down the road and maybe grab an ice cream on the way. Another fave of ours is the Instagram page, there are some simply stunning photos and updates, they keep you well informed to what park or event they are going to that day, we have Resort tv1 on in the background and let it wash over us while we are writing or doing research.

Over to another family channel, this one is Ear to Ear Magic, this channel and Instagram page is a fun place to be. Chris and Susan are another couple who whole heartedly embrace the fun and love of the parks. They post content nearly everyday, this is another vlog that is quite relaxing to watch, we love the way they can inform and be very impartial, that’s what we like, they don’t say “oh it’s WDW so it must be wonderful” they are very objective and give really great insights how to enjoy yourself in WDW. They sometimes take the kids with them and the family always look like they are having great fun. The content is always varied and never dull! These guys treat every trip as its their first and that what’s makes it fun.

Now over DSNY Newscast, Jack and his merry band of ‘Waltineers’ are a one stop shop for all things Disney related. Jack’s enthusiasm is quite catching, he presents from the sofa and you really feel he is sat opposite you filling you in on all the WDW news and events. His Instagram page is bright and colourful with some cracking articles, he doesn’t only cover WDW but also Disneyland and DLP. Some of his insights into what’s happening are brilliant, he must have a VERY good crystal ball or some good contacts in the theme park community… lately he has been talking about the Coronavirus outbreak and what it means for everyone at the moment. One of his latest vlogs was about not spreading ‘click bait’ and trying not to sensationalise news that is coming out. We cannot agree more, as it feels like some channels are only after ‘hits’ with sensational headlines. We applaud DSNY for the content and the level headed approach. Jack is a very talented guy who will be going onto great things in the future. With his easy going approach and ease in front of the camera we enjoy his updates and commentary, fingers crossed we all get to see more from the parks soon.

A new Instagram account and soon to be YouTube channel is Universally Speaking, these guys absolutely love Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. Jay and Ella are from the UK and love U.S & I.O.A. That may be an understatement… they post some lovely pics on insta that are not the normal ‘posed’ pics but very funny normal ones, such as the aftermath of a Floridian storm. – we’ve all been there. They love what they do and it shows in the work and content. Like the others we’ve mentioned the depth of feeling for Orlando is immense and it shines through. We’ve been laughing at the pics of Ella with her ‘Florida hair’ due to the humidity…Mrs Oh always rants about this as well. Oh, and they agree with us totally about the fast and furious ride. ‘Ride or die’. Yeah….of boredom!!! We are really looking forward to the channel ‘going live’ soon.

Now for last but not least, Allears.net. These guys put up a tremendous amount of content and are constantly dropping updates and mini blogs, they cover both coasts parks WDW & WDL so you will never be short of something to read or watch. Talking of watching, the one main presenter Molly is an absolute hoot! We love her so much. She eats, drinks and has a passion for Mickey ears that is a borderline obsession. (Mrs Oh is so jealous…) her gift is that she is so laid back and welcoming. She engages you with her huge smile and laughs at herself quite a lot. Can’t beat that. Her previous job was actually at guest services at WDW and this shows as she has a real way of relaxing you and nothing seems like it’s too much trouble. Some of the best vlogs we’ve seen are of the tours of the resorts, you never knew so much went on at one till you watched one of these vlogs.

So that’s it for this week, we hope you liked some of the bloggers and vloggers we watch and follow, please feel free to tell us yours and share some stories with us. Stay safe folks, wash ya hands and keep 2 meters apart! Fingers crossed we’ll all get through this safe and sound. Love and peace! See y’all soon!!
