Here’s to happier times

We’re in the middle of strange times at the moment, and we hope you are all fit and well. We also don’t want to speculate or comment on what is happening or what will happen, or put a negative slant on anything and so instead we thought we’d go for a blog about happy times. So – we’re about to put up loads of photos of us being daft, being happy and generally doing stuff that makes us laugh. We’ll provide a bit of context for some of the photos and hopefully they’ll make you laugh too.

Firstly, there was the holiday with the hats!! Mr Oh is pretty keen on trying hats on, he tries hats on in most shops we go into, and when we get off rides and – well, just whenever he gets the chance.

We even advanced from hats to whole heads at one point – and to explain what on earth was going on here, this was Mr and Mrs Oh and our gorgeous daughter-in-law to be trying on the heads that went with the fancy dress costumes for Halloween in Target. It just goes to prove that there’s pretty much nothing you can’t find in Target – everything you might need and loads of stuff you definitely didn’t need but obviously want now that you’ve seen them.

There was the holiday with Mrs Oh dancing in the parade! Oh what a happy day. Some of the parades in Walt Disney World in the past used to stop periodically and some of the characters that weren’t on floats used to get children out of the crowds to dance with them and then the parade would move on again. One such time we staked our claim and found a good spot to watch the parade. We were sitting on the kerb not far from the Christmas shop, as you do, and Mr Oh decided he fancied an ice-cream whilst the parade was on. Off he went to Plaza ice cream parlour on Main Street USA and he came back clutching his children’s ice cream, which was heaven knows how many scoops of ice cream in a tub, with a cone and two giant buttons to make the ice cream look like Mickey Mouse in his sorcerers apprentice outfit. He came back to where Mrs Oh had been sitting on the kerb, only to find that she was no longer sitting on the kerb but was instead dancing with a giant wolf in the parade! Swirling around and around she was with not a care in the world – just how WDW makes you feel. Fantastic. Happy times for sure.

Me and the wolf!

Our niece Amelia also danced in the parade once, with the seven dwarves – she was so tiny at the time, maybe about two or three – the dwarves were huge beside her, she looked so cute with her tiny little pony tails clapping her hands. Gorgeous happy memories.

Some of our happiest times are eating and drinking obviously! Oh we do love some yummy food and trying some new drinks too – and not just the alcoholic kinds – Powerade and yellow coca-cola featured quite heavily in our last holiday, or all of our holidays in Florida to be quite honest. Breakfasts, lunches, dinner, snacks, ice creams, wine and beers. Oh and the Powerade of course!

If that eating and drinking happens with our family and friends then all the better – and we have lots of those moments in Florida as our photos show – lots of smiling faces and always lots of food and drinkies.

Relaxing in Orlando always makes us happy and what better way to relax than in a Mickey shaped spa pool. The last house we hired had a marvellous pool and deck area and we spent lots of pleasant times there floating around on lilos, relaxing with a beer, sitting in the spa pool talking about the day we’ve just had, or planning for the next day or just relaxing and watching the sun or stars and enjoying the peace and quiet. Happy happy times.

Oh and what about beautiful blue clear sea and white white sand. Yes please – a sight to make most of us happy. Clearwater is our beach of choice – lazy days, pretty independent restaurants and a pretty chilled vibe. A long long stretch of beach with sand so white and so hot you can barely walk on it, and the sea is warm too – like paddling in a warm bath. Gorgeous.

Finally – the ride photos! They always make us happy. We have loads of them because obviously the Disney My Experience App means that we get the photos automatically sent to our phones/devices. They make us smile all the time – we look at our faces on the rides, our smiling contorted crazy faces and it makes us happy, remembering them and looking forward to the next time we ride them.
