It’s a very exciting time to be a theme park fan. There is so much happening its hard to know where to start??
Magic kingdom.
The Tron Lightcycle roller coaster is now well under way with lots of track in place and some iron work going up around it. This will be a replica of the one that is open in Shanghai Disney. Having watched videos of this I can safely say this is going to be a brilliant ride. The ride vehicles are actually Tron light cycles copied from the film, they look amazing. The ride itself is going to be situated in Tomorrowland next to the Tomorrowland Speedway. This has been altered to accommodate the new ride. Opens in 2021.
Epcot.
Lots going on here! The new big ticket attraction will be the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride called ‘Cosmic Rewind’ this will be a new rearward facing launch rollercoaster that will be fully immersive, the ride vehicle will twist and turn to face you to where ever the story is happening! The story will be projected onto the walls and ceiling!! Cannot wait! And in other GOTG news there is a newish show on opposite the American pavilion it’s called ‘Guardians of the Galaxy -Awesome mix live!” This is a real hoot! Star lord and Gamora sing and dance with help from a live backing band and Groot is the DJ! Well worth waiting around for. All sung live and its a real treat.
The other big news that’s come from D23 is the announcement that Brazil will have a pavilion! No details have been given yet except the location, its going to be placed between Germany and Italy.
The other other big news was the new attraction opening in the Great Britain pavilion, the Mary Poppins ride in Cherry Tree Lane. You will enter the number 17 for a magical adventure!
In the France pavilion there will be the Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure! Again a copy (but well enhanced) From Disneyland Paris ride. This one will be in 2D not 3D as the French one. The whole of the France pavilion is being reworked as we speak.
The front of Epcot is having lots of work as well. The leave a legacy monoliths have been removed and that area is being remodelled ready for future proofing. Lots of new things are going to be built, more interactive zones created and if the models are to be believed a massive new mini city in the sky is going to be built!
A new space themed restaurant is getting ready to open in a few months called ‘220’ because it will feel like you are 220 miles above the earth while eating. There will be no windows, but in place there are screens depicting scenes from space! Pretty cool eh!
Hollywood Studios

STAR WARS!!!!!! The new ‘land’ that will be opening this weekend will be called Black Spire Outpost. We’ve watched about 600 videos of this in the last few days and I can safely say it’s gonna be off the hook!

You wanna drink BLUE MILK in THE cantina? TICK
You wanna fight on the side of the rebellion in Rise of the Resistance TICK
Space food, blue and green milk and helping Chewy?? That’s a good day out in anyone’s book I’d say!
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway,
This was the old Great Movie Ride – which was a part live action, part film trip through memory lane and old films. It was a great, albeit gentle ride through the years . The buildings have now been repurposed for the Mickey and Minnie ride. This will be a roller coaster of sorts buts it’s still all top secret. More to come.
Over in Toy Story Land there will be a new restaurant popping up , rumours are this will be a bbq style Smoke house. More news as we get it.
Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure
The new ride on the Islands of Adventure is Hagrids Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure! (Not typing all that again I tell you!) This ride replaced the old Dualing Dragon’s ride. An epic ride if ever there was one! You sit on a motorcycle and sidecar for this. It looks so much fun and gets up to quite a turn of speed! It has a load of effects and loads of references from the films as you would expect. The other great thing about this ride is it will soon be a virtual queue ride. Simply login to stake your place and off you go for a faff around the rest of the park.
Just around the corner in Jurassic Park will be a new roller coaster, this is being built at the front of the iconic Discovery Center (remember the scene in the film where the T-Rex tears up the banners?? – that place) and will run along and around the central lagoon. There is no official name as yet. Several have been trademarked, but Universal are quite clever and always do this to throw people off the scent of the real name. This it set to open in 2020.
